Forms & Strengths
- Ophthalmic solution 0.1% (1 mg/mL)
Adult Dosing
- Instill 1‑2 drops into each affected eye up to 3 times daily (max 6 drops/24 h) for transient redness relief
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety not established in children <12 yr; use not recommended
Indications
- Temporary relief of ocular redness due to minor irritation, allergic conjunctivitis, or environmental factors
Mechanism of Action
- Selective α₁‑adrenergic receptor antagonist producing vasoconstriction of conjunctival vessels and reducing hyperemia
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dapiprazole or excipients
- Acute narrow‑angle glaucoma or risk of angle‑closure
Adverse Reactions
- Transient burning or stinging sensation
- Mild ocular irritation or dryness
- Blurred vision
- Rebound hyperemia with prolonged use
- Rare allergic conjunctivitis
Drug Interactions
- Additive vasoconstriction with other ocular sympathomimetics (e.g., naphazoline, phenylephrine)
- Caution with systemic α‑blockers may increase systemic hypotensive effect (minimal due to topical route)
