Forms & Strengths
- Ophthalmic solution: 0.05%
Adult Dosing
- Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) up to 4 times daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Children 3 years and older: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye(s) up to 4 times daily
- Children under 3 years: Safety and efficacy not established
Indications
- Temporary relief of signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis
Mechanism of Action
- Selective H1-receptor antagonist that inhibits histamine binding and prevents histamine-mediated allergic symptoms in the eye
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to emedastine difumarate or any component of the formulation
Adverse Reactions
- Headache
- Burning or stinging upon instillation
- Dry eyes
- Rhinitis
- Somnolence
- Blurred vision
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions reported due to minimal systemic absorption following topical ophthalmic administration
- Separate administration of different ophthalmic products by at least 5 minutes
