Adult Dosing
- Cerumen removal: Instill 5 to 10 drops into the affected ear twice daily for up to 4 days as needed.
Pediatric Dosing
- Cerumen removal (children >12 years): Instill 5 to 10 drops into the affected ear twice daily for up to 4 days.
- Cerumen removal (children <12 years): Use under the direction of a physician.
Indications
- Aid to the removal of excessive cerumen (earwax) from the external auditory canal
Mechanism of Action
- Releases oxygen upon contact with tissue or organic matter, producing effervescence that mechanically loosens and softens impacted cerumen.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to hydrogen peroxide or any component of the formulation
- Tympanic membrane perforation
- Presence of otorrhea, ear pain, or discharge
Adverse Reactions
- Local irritation
- Transient stinging or popping sensation in the ear
- Erythema of the ear canal
Drug Interactions
- No significant systemic drug interactions identified due to localized otic administration.
