- Ophthalmic Suspension: 1% (Pred Forte)
- Ophthalmic Solution: 0.125%, 1%
Adult Dosing
- Ophthalmic: Instill 1 to 2 drops into the conjunctival sac 2 to 4 times daily.

Indications
- Treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpal and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe.
Mechanism of Action
- Glucocorticoids inhibit the multiple inflammatory cytokines, reduce edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leukocyte migration, capillary proliferation, fibroblast proliferation, deposition of collagen, and scar formation associated with inflammation.
Contraindications
- Most viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva including epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia, and varicella
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Fungal diseases of ocular structures
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation
Adverse Reactions
- Elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) with possible development of glaucoma
- Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
- Delayed wound healing
- Secondary ocular infection from pathogens suppressed by steroids
- Stinging and burning upon instillation
Drug Interactions
- Co-administration with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, cobicistat) may increase systemic exposure and risk of systemic corticosteroid side effects.
- Prolonged use with other agents that increase intraocular pressure may result in additive ocular hypertension.
