V04CC03
Forms & Strengths
- Injectable solution 0.5 µg/mL (CCK‑8)
- Single‑dose vials for IV administration
Adult Dosing
- 0.5 µg/kg IV bolus (max 50 µg) for HIDA gallbladder ejection fraction
- 0.02‑0.05 µg/kg IV over 1 min followed by 0.5 µg/kg infusion over 30 min for pancreatic secretion test
Pediatric Dosing
- 0.5 µg/kg IV bolus (max 10 µg) for HIDA imaging
- 0.025 µg/kg/min IV infusion for 30 min for pancreatic function assessment
Indications
- Diagnostic gallbladder ejection fraction (HIDA scan)
- Assessment of pancreatic exocrine function
- Stimulation of bile flow for biliary imaging
Mechanism of Action
- Synthetic CCK‑8 agonist of CCK‑A (CCK1) receptors
- Induces gallbladder contraction and sphincter of Oddi relaxation
- Stimulates pancreatic enzyme secretion
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to sincalide or CCK
- Intestinal obstruction
- Severe acute pancreatitis
Adverse Reactions
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal cramps/pain
- Hypotension or flushing
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Allergic rash or anaphylaxis
Drug Interactions
- Anticholinergics (e.g., atropine) may blunt gallbladder response
- Opioids may reduce sphincter relaxation
- Cholinergic agonists may potentiate effects
- ACE inhibitors may augment hypotensive response
