pafolacianine
V04CX10
Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous solution: 0.32 mg/mL in a single-dose vial
Adult Dosing
- 0.025 mg/kg intravenously administered 1 hour prior to surgery (range: 1 to 2.4 hours before start of fluorescence imaging)
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- As an adjunct for intraoperative identification of ovarian cancer lesions in patients with known or suspected ovarian cancer
Mechanism of Action
- Optical imaging agent that binds to folate receptors (FR-alpha) expressed on ovarian cancer cells, which are then visualized under near-infrared fluorescence imaging during surgery
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to pafolacianine or its components
- Pregnancy
Adverse Reactions
- Infusion-related reactions
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Flushing
- Dyspnea
- Chest discomfort
- Rash
- Pruritus
Drug Interactions
- Folate supplementation (e.g., folic acid) may competitively bind to folate receptors and reduce the efficacy of pafolacianine; avoid folate-containing supplements 48 hours prior to administration
