florbetaben (18F)
V09AX06
Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous injection: 100 MBG/mL (2.7 mCi/mL) at EOS calibration time
Adult Dosing
- 300 MBq (8.1 mCi) administered as a single slow intravenous injection over 6 seconds
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- Indicated for PET imaging of the brain to estimate beta-amyloid neuritic plaque density in adult patients with cognitive impairment evaluated for Alzheimer's disease and other causes of cognitive decline
Mechanism of Action
- Fluorine 18 labeled stilbene derivative that binds to beta-amyloid plaques in the brain, allowing visualization via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to florbetaben F 18 or any of the inactive ingredients
Adverse Reactions
- Injection site erythema
- Injection site reaction
- Infusion site pain
Drug Interactions
- No formal drug-drug interaction studies have been performed
- Concomitant medications with central nervous activity are not expected to interfere with PET scan interpretation based on mechanism of plaque binding
