technetium (99mTc) nanocolloid
V09EA03
Forms & Strengths
- Kit for the preparation of technetium Tc 99m nanocolloid radiopharmaceutical
- Vial containing lyophilized human albumin nanocolloid and stannous chloride
Adult Dosing
- Lymphoscintigraphy: 200 to 400 MBq (5.4 to 10.8 mCi) administered as one or several subcutaneous/intradermal injections
- Sentinel node localization: 20 to 120 MBq per injection site depending on the clinical protocol and time to surgery
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients not formally established
- Dose typically adjusted based on body weight or body surface area according to EANM/SNMMI pediatric dosage card guidelines
Indications
- Lymphoscintigraphy for evaluation of the lymphatic system
- Sentinel lymph node detection in melanoma, breast cancer, and other malignancies
Mechanism of Action
- Radiolabeled human albumin nanocolloids are phagocytosed by the reticuloendothelial system or transported via lymphatic channels to regional lymph nodes
- Emits gamma radiation detectable by a gamma camera or intraoperative gamma probe
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to human serum albumin or any component of the preparation
- Known pregnancy (unless diagnostic benefit outweighs potential risks)
Adverse Reactions
- Rare hypersensitivity or anaphylactoid reactions associated with human serum albumin
- Transient pain or injection site reaction
Drug Interactions
- No formal pharmacokinetic drug-drug interaction studies performed
- Prior diagnostic procedures using other contrast agents or radiopharmaceuticals may interfere with imaging quality
