flurpiridaz (18F)
V09GX06
Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous injection: 370 MBq/mL (10 mCi/mL) at the time of calibration
Adult Dosing
- Myocardial perfusion imaging: 3.7 to 7.4 MBq/kg (0.1 to 0.2 mCi/kg) IV single injection
- Maximum recommended dose: 370 MBq (10 mCi) per PET scan
- Administered as a rest and stress protocol (stress via exercise or pharmacologic agent)
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- Indicated for positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) to evaluate for suspected or known coronary artery disease
Mechanism of Action
- Fluorine-18 labeled PET myocardial perfusion tracer
- Binds to mitochondrial complex I in cardiomyocytes
- Myocardial uptake is proportional to myocardial blood flow
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to flurpiridaz (18F) or any component of the formulation
Adverse Reactions
- Chest pain
- Headache
- Dyspnea
- Nausea
- Injection site pain
- Flushing
Drug Interactions
- Vasodilator stress agents (e.g., adenosine, regadenoson) interact pharmacodynamically to induce hyperemia for stress imaging
- Negative inotropes or chronotropes may affect myocardial uptake during exercise stress testing
