indium (111In) satumomab pendetide
V09IB02
Forms & Strengths
- Kit for the preparation of Indium In 111 Satumomab Pendetide: 1 mg satumomab pendetide per vial
- Radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent for intravenous administration after radiolabeling with Indium-111
Adult Dosing
- Diagnostic imaging: 1 mg of satumomab pendetide labeled with 5 mCi (185 MBq) Indium-111 administered as a slow intravenous injection over 5 minutes
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- Localization of extrahepatic metastases of colorectal carcinoma
- Localization of recurrent and primary prostate cancer
Mechanism of Action
- Satumomab pendetide is a murine monoclonal antibody (7E11-C5.3) conjugated to the chelating agent pendetide
- Binds to a glycoprotein (TAG-72 for colorectal cancer or PSMA intracellular domain for prostate cancer) expressed on the surface of specific tumor cells
- Radiolabeling with Indium-111 allows for gamma camera detection and localization of tumor sites via single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to murine proteins or any component of the formulation
- Known pregnancy or nursing mothers
Adverse Reactions
- Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis and urticaria due to murine antibody origin
- Transient flushing, fever, chills, dizziness, and nausea
- Development of human anti-mouse antibodies (HAMA)
Drug Interactions
- Circulating human anti-mouse antibodies (HAMA) may interfere with subsequent diagnostic or therapeutic murine monoclonal antibody procedures
- Previous administration of diagnostic or therapeutic murine antibodies may cause rapid clearance or severe hypersensitivity reactions
