piflufolastat (18F)
V09IX16
Forms & Strengths
- Intravenous solution: 296 to 5,920 MBq/mL (8 to 160 mCi/mL) at the time of calibration
Adult Dosing
- Recommended dose: 333 MBq (9 mCi) administered as an intravenous bolus
- Acceptable dose range: 296 MBq to 370 MBq (8 mCi to 10 mCi)
- Imaging time: Initiate PET scan 50 to 100 minutes after injection
Pediatric Dosing
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established
Indications
- Indicated for positron emission tomography (PET) of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positive lesions
- For suspected prostate cancer metastasis who are candidates for initial definitive therapy
- For suspected prostate cancer recurrence based on elevated serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level
Mechanism of Action
- Radiolabeled fluorine-18 tracer that binds to prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)
- PSMA is a transmembrane protein expressed at high levels in prostate cancer cells
- Enables visualization of PSMA-expressing lesions via PET imaging
Adverse Reactions
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Injection site pain
Drug Interactions
- Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and other PSMA-targeted therapies may affect PSMA expression and imaging results
- No formal drug-drug interaction studies have been conducted
